The goal of this operation is to remove loose or excess skin on the arms and then to tighten the contour of the skin. This method is intended for all patients who want to remove excess skin that arises, for example, with age or after significant weight loss.
The reduction of the saggy upper arm skin is usually performed under general anesthesia and takes about 1-2 hours. Minor surgery can be performed under local anesthesia. Through cuts, for example in the armpits, on the inner surface of the arm, muscular tissue is penetrated. In this layer, the skin and the subcutaneous tissue is separated from the under layer. The saggy skin is stretched, excess removed and the wound is then sutured.
After surgery, the patient remains in the hospital for 1-2 days. The resulting scars can then be removed with a laser-biostimulation.
Drains are removed on 1st – 2nd day after surgery and special elastic clothing must be worn 4-8 weeks. 10th – 14th day after surgery, the sutures are removed; the scar should be protected at least three months before sunlight. Sports and greater physical effort are recommended only from the 6th week after surgery.
